Ocean’s Twelve [Blu-ray] Reviews By Customers
Ocean’s 12 stands on its own merits as a comedy and the funniest addition to the franchise. The dialogue is witty and fast paced. Repeat viewings or “rewinds” may be necessary to catch all of the gags. However, the height of the hilarity comes in the Tess impersonates “Julia Roberts” sequence, with Bruce Willis contributing to the lunacy!

Quick Summary:
Imagine if the Ocean’s crew were dropped, without explanation, into a non-comedic version of the old Pink Panther movies, while the director tried to pretend that it hadn’t happened.
Full version:
After the success of the excellent Ocean’s Eleven, the studio was under pressure to quickly capitalize on it. They needed a sequel, and they needed one NOW. Unfortunately, writing a good screenplay takes time, so they decided to adapt an existing one. Someone tracked down a decent script involving an ensemble cast of thieves, and a team of writers hastily swapped the Ocean’s crew in instead and added some ties to the first film.
The result? A film that feels like what it is — a patchwork, overdone monstrosity. The plot makes no real sense — the action is easy enough to follow but the characters’ motivations don’t make any sense. The ending has two “big reveals”, one of which you see coming from a mile away. The other… is one of those twists that you don’t see coming only because there was never once a hint of foreshadowing. One that has to “cheat” by being completely hidden, because if they had even hinted at it (like with a good twist), you would’ve seen THAT one coming as well.
All in all, a clunky mish-mash of attempted action, attempted suspense, attempted comedy, and bad plot twists. Save your money and skip right from Ocean’s Eleven to Ocean’s Thirteen. You won’t regret it, and you don’t need to know a thing about this movie to understand it. (Well, okay, ONE thing — the stereotypical French burglar makes a cameo in 13 near the end. Now that you know that, you won’t be wondering, “Who is that guy?” Now please, skip this movie.)
