An ambitious young New Yorker (Kristen Bell), disillusioned with romance, takes a whirlwind trip to Rome where she defiantly plucks magic coins from a fountain of love, inexplicably igniting the passion of those who threw them in: a sausage magnate (Danny DeVito), a street magician (John Heder), an adoring painter (Will Arnet) and a self-admiring model (Dax Shepard). But when a charming reporter (Josh Duhamel) pursues her with equal zest, how will she know if his love is the real thing? 

This was much better that I expected. Sure the story line is kind of predictable, but there are so many funny and cute ways that it’s presented. Josh Duhamel is quite good in this which I didn’t expect. And, Kristin Bell isn’t overly loud and full of herself. The movie has kind of an old fashioned feel to it – not overly sexy, not overly comedic. I can’t quite call it a chick flick because I found my husband laughing at many of the scenes and I didn’t have to worry too much about my teen watching it – no one jumping in bed or f’ing every other word.

Cute and Sweet! – KoaLala – California, USA
There’s nothing sensationally original about movie, but it still leaves a fresh impression with its wacky humor and fun romance. A romantic comedy that can be watched by the whole family. Nothing to complain about!

When in New York!! – S. Ramchandani –
All those expecting to see a sweet romantic movie based in beautiful Italy (Rome in this case) will be highly dissapointed and I suggest you pick up the DVD of ‘Only you’ or the recent ‘Letters to Juliet’ instead. The stock shots of Rome and a few scenes in Rome last for maximum of 15 minutes. The rest of this ridiculous story takes place in New York. So we have Magic coins making people fall in love with total strangers, thunder, lightening, irritating supporting cast and a song and dance finale probably inspired by ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.The acting, story and direction are below average.
So why the one star..well that’s for some truly beautiful shots of New York.

Follows the adventures of corporate employees who hate their jobs and decide to rebel against their greedy boss.

I thought this movie was hilarious even before I started working in an office. In a twist of fate, I ended up working for a slightly less competent version of a Lumbergh, and now it’s even MORE hilarious! I don’t know what’s worse, the boss giving you the same instructions 3 times (including 2 written forms) or the copy machine breaking down because it doesn’t like yellow paper. Piece of trash. No way you cant relate to at least one thing in this movie! It is pure comedy AWESOMENESS!

My favorite character is Dietrich Bader, the next door neighbor. This is a perfect movie, a classic rewatchable good time along the lines of The Ref and Princess Bride and Goonies. This is the movie that I recommend without qualification to foreign students of English. This is also the best role of Jennifer Aniston’s career.

D. Gray Man has a very interesting concept. Allen Walker serves the Black Order and along with other exorcists must defeat the Millennium Earl and his minions the Akuma. More of the Clan of Noah, those that serve the Earl are introduced.
D. Gray Man began as a manga series in 2004, and currently in Japan the manga has reached double digits with volume 18 released a month ago. The series, very faithfull to the original story, tends to incorporate material from the novels called D. Gray Man Reverse. As the story continues, the characters are more “fleshed out,” given more backgrounds than were in the orginal material. The first and second season explore some elements that were not covered in the original manga, but the last 2 seasons really take the anime to a new level, faithfully recreating the story in animated format. Some characters are even introduced earlier in the story and also get more screen time.
Since I am a fan of this series, I must say that I rather enjoyed it, but I had some small problems with some of the elements. The voice acting of the English cast kind of put me off, but that is quickly dispelled as one becomes more accustomed to it. The Clan of Noah are also a stange gray tone that seems too dark, they just do not look quite right, but at this point I am just nit-picking.
The entire series goes to episode 103, roughly covering almost up to the end of volume 16. I enjoyed the fact that many elements present in the later manga stories was also incorporated, not just editing them out like some anime adaptions do. All in all, I do recommend this series and hope that as more chapters of the manga come out, that the story may pick up where it leaves off and continue into a fifth season. Very Enjoyable

The Race Is On For Innocence – Rich – CA
I’ve already got the first season and second season sets and now the only question I’m left with is when will Funimation release the final sets to the anime series since there are a bout 110 episodes I think. The series is a nice fast pace mix of drama, action, humor, and tragedy as we have the characters powerful people who wield incredible and sometimes unusual powers to fight dark spirits an the like who are called Exorcist as they try and fight the nefarious forces of the Millennium Earl and the Noah clan to capture and secure all the mysterious pieces of power called innocence in order to save humanity but they must also face their own inner demons and sorrowful pasts as well to find their own strength to fight. This set also introduces a few new characters to the Black order(Exorcist group) as well as some renown Black order members from the past, as expected the series can turn dark in some episodes so I would advise not letting the younger kids see this if you don’t feel it’s appropriate for them but still for young teenagers and the rest I think they should be able to handle it considering it’s not much worse than other t.v. series like C.S.I criminal intent an the like. The animation and soundtrack are great and the voice cast for the subbed and dubbed characters were a perfect match, don’t expect much in the way of extras though just the standard trailers and intro/ending songs but still reasonable in all. So until Funimation graces us with the final episode sets here’s a great one to help pass the time until than…..

I love this movie! “I Love You, Man” takes place in Los Angeles, California in present day starring the delightful Paul Rudd, Rashida Jones, and Jason Segal. Paul Rudd plays the character Peter Klaven, who is rather reserved and doesn’t have many friends, which never seems to faze him until he proposes to the love of his life, Zooey Rice. Zooey has two best friends who she has had forever; Denise, played by Jamie Pressley and Hailey played by Sarah Burns. Zooey, Denise, and Hailey have a bunch of friends together that one night a week they host girls’ night at each other’s houses. During one of those girls nights, after Peter proposes to Zooey, Peter walks into Zooey and friends discussing how Peter not only doesn’t have a best friend but he doesn’t have any friends, therefore he most likely won’t have a best man for their June wedding. Upset and embarrassed, Peter is on a mission to find friends or a best man. He seeks help through his brother Robbie, played by the hysterical, Andy Samberg, and through the help of his mom, played by the lovely Jane Curtain. The “friends” his mom and brother find for Peter are amusing and completely out there. But, out of nowhere he eventually finds Sydney Fife, played by Jason Segal. Peter and Sydney become fast friends and their relationship is truly great. In a way, they are complete opposites, Peter being more reserved, self conscious and having low self esteem, whereas Sydney being quite odd in his strange outfits such as shorts and ugg boots in the middle of June in California, and living a more carefree lifestyle just being who he is and not caring what people say and think of him.

I think the acting is great and I love the pairing of Paul Rudd and Jason Segal. Paul Rudd is funny and charming and plays a fiance that every girl dreams to have. Jason Segal is fun, crazy and very entertaining. They play off each other really well throughout the film. The beautiful Rashida Jones, Jon Favreau and Tom Lennon light up the screen.

I think Peter learns a lot from Sydney and I think after spending more time with him he starts to finally be more comfortable in his own skin and more confident with his work and relationships. Could Sydney be Peter’s best man in the wedding just around the corner? I guess you have to see for yourself in this bro-mantic comedy! I highly recommend this for anyone who enjoys comedy, romance and laughing!

A Fearless and Accurate Film About Male Friendships – Tyler S. – Brentwood, CA United States
This movie serves a lot of importance to me. It isn’t so much the comedic value, because it doesn’t rank as one of the funniest movies I’ve seen. The architecture of the difficult-to-obtain male friendship, is a topic that has been abandoned by filmmaking, till now. This film is very realistic in its premise. Finding a friend for a guy is no easy task, because being aggressive can come off as homoerotic. Women, on the other hand, can ask another girl out for coffee without worrying about the other’s perspective on the offer. This is a topic that is in dire need of talking about. All of us men are so alienated that it isn’t easy to make new friends. Instead of this movie being a hilarious comedy, which it is in parts, it becomes more of a expositional documentary of the male psyche.

Don’t let me steer you away, I Love You, Man is very very funny due to performances by Paul Rudd and Jason Segal. If it weren’t for these two geniuses the film would be a bore. The supporting cast, which is impressive, does a great job as well to build a great intelligent comedy, and not a wacky gay-joke fest. The akwardness of Rudd’s character proves he can really act, and Siegal’s performance is a claim for him being a present comedic king. The great thing about I Love You, Man is that it has a heart and purpose. It is a film that needed to be made to hopefully detach our homophobia as males, and just offer friendship more easily. Thankfully there is enough genius improv to make the flick as hilarious as it is worthwhile.

The Blu-ray is satisfactory. I watched all the special features relatively fast, due to the small amount of such. I do have to give credit though to the gag reel. That has to be the funniest and well put together gag reel I have ever seen. Great job Paramount! The commentary is also one of the more entertaining commentaries out there. All around it is a great film, and the blu-ray disc does its job.

Best buddy movie – Matthew Mullins-Hall –
This movie couldn’t be more awkward and funny! One of the best buddy comedies that I have seen in a while. While I am in now way disappointed in the movie, I am pretty upset Amazon dropped the price by five bucks two weeks after I bought it! I will pay better attention to this trend.

I saw this film yesterday at a regional film festival in Dubbo NSW. It is one of several Australian films (yes, it was shot in suburban Sydney!) in recent years, aimed at the American market. But it remains thoroughly Australian in its quirky, almost black humour at times.

The film revolves around the central character of Billy Conway and his dysfunctional family (in fact, all the characters seem a bit that way inclined…). It recounts his misadventures and disasters, from the opening scenes where he plays under the hose sprinkler on his front lawn while the next door neighbour accidentally incinerates himself, to the car accident which kills his sister and puts his dynamic & mischevious older twin brother Gene into a vegetative state. When he takes up with Gene’s ‘partner-in-crime’ Doug, son of a neighbouring family, they accidentally kill HIS father as well… The lovely Geena Davis plays a convincing and at times heart-rending role as Billy’s sharp-tongued mother Gloria, ably backed by some wonderful emerging new talent in 14-year old Harrison Gilbertson as Billy, and Harry Cook as the also-ran ‘other’ twin brother, Larry (whose performance is loosely reminiscent of Gabby Millgate’s character Joanie in Muriel’s Wedding… “Muriel, you’re awful…”).

The ensuing trail of accidents & disasters (“I’m not exactly a good luck charm,” Billy tells Doug at one point) are actually woven between some moments of genuine pathos and depth. The consequent collision of guilt, truth and self-discovery prove to be just what Billy and his family need to move on.

There are also some humorous cameos, like the two policemen… who become more of caricatures as the film progresses. And never underestimate the potential of a bowling ball….

Quirky comedy, coming-of-age movie, nostalgia trip… this film crosses over between several classifications. It was a pleasure to watch, evoking as it did considerable laughter, some tears, and a good deal of hope… and some profound moments to boot.

I was surprised at the R rating, despite a couple of graphic scenes… perhaps the innate black humour was not understood by the classification board as well as the audience I watched it with.

It is the debut feature from Australian writer/director Andrew Lancaster. Accidents Happen was also runner-up in the Audience Award at the 2009 Sydney Film Festival and was included in the Official Selection of the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival.

I look forward to seeing more of some of the previously unknown new talent in this film.

With the police, a crew of angry Trekkies, and a crazy pimp hot on their trail, what could possibly go wrong? Featuring Dan Fogler, Jay Baruchel and Kristen Bell plus a slew of hysterical surprise cameos.

This is a fun movie for all of Geekdom…. Star Wars fans will appreciate this one.

Story revolves around a group of friends who really aren’t going anywhere…. where Eric (Sam Huntington) feels his life needs direction, as he listlessly works at his father’s used car lot, even though his true passion is art, and creating his own comic book, something he put off thinking it was all pipe dreams. Then there are his friends, best friend Linus (Chris Marquette), nerd o’rama Windows (Jay Baruchel), and crazy man, Hutch (Dan Fogler) who has pimped out his van as if it is the Millennium Falcon, and nerd cutie Zoe (Kirsten Bell). These guys live and breath anything fanboy, whether it’s arguing who fired first… Han or Greedo, which is better Empire or Jedi, arguing if Boba fett is a genuine bad ass or not, and basically repeating their favorite movie lines in everyday lingo (seriously who doesn’t do that? my friends and I do it) anyways turns out Linus finds he has a terminal illness where he and Eric have drifted apart after high school, where Eric thinks what his friends do are childish games, that they never grew up, thinking he is the only one who really moved on from this nonsense, where as with the rest of the group it’s a passion something they enjoy, like outdoor enthusiasts enjoying the outdoors, dog lovers that will do anything for an animal, people who collect garden gnomes, it’s something they enjoy. Linus knows he will not see Star Wars Episode I, so when Eric realizes this he hatches a plan to go to Skywalker Ranch to steal a copy with the group. On the outside it’s a buddy road trip movie, with it comes the hilarity, but deep down it wasn’t about stealing one of the most anticipated movies to hit 1999, it’s about knowing who your true friends are and spending one last adventure before it’s too late, where Eric doesn’t realize this until I think mid way through. Each of the characters find out who they are, and they too can follow their dreams no matter how big or ridiculous, Windows finally see Zoe for who she is not just a best friend but deep down actually loves her, it’s reciprocal, and Hutch follows his dreams of opening an Automotive Detailing Business.

Anyways hilarity ensues when they stop in Iowa the birth place of one James Tiberius Kirk, and Hutch gets into a fight with a bunch of Trekkies, one played by Seth Rogen, who also plays a pimp in Vegas. And when they do reach Skywalker ranch they run into some very animated Security Guards played by Will Arnett, and Craig Robinson. With More cameos by Shatner, Carrie Fischer, Billy Dee Williams, Kevin Smith.

This film is funny, and heartwarming (kind of odd for this type, some will argue it should of been a straight up comedy/ road trip movie, why the downer of having a character with a Terminal Illness and all, it still worked in my opinion)…. Saw this will be released on Blu Ray… hopefully with some decent Special Features…. over all any Star Wars fan, hell, any movie fan will enjoy this who likes comedy and a good laugh.

I love this movie for a lot of reasons… I mainly watched it because I really like Chris Marquette… I have loved him in every movie and show he’s done… But this movie is hilarious They have a great cast, and to me, they couldn’t have picked a better girl too. I have seen a lot of “real Fanboys” complain about this movie because they say it doesn’t capture what a “real fanboy” is… okay, it’s a movie, first off… second, IT’S A MOVIE… IT’S A DAMN MOVIE… and it’s more than just being a fan of it all… it’s a story about, friendship, GROWING UP, and doing what you want and think is best…

ACADEMY AWARD WINNER BEST ADAPTED SCREENPLAY WINNER OF 2 GOLDEN GLOBES, INCLUDING BEST PICTURE (COMEDY / MUSICAL)

In this intoxicating, intelligent comedy, director Alexander Payne (Election, About Schmidt) serves up “one of the best movies of the year” (Entertainment Weekly) about the ups, downs and sideways journeys of life. A wine-tasting road trip through California’s famed Central Coast takes an unexpected detour as Miles (Paul Giamatti) and Jack (Thomas Haden Church) hit the gas en route to their mid-life crisis. This is, far and away, my favorite movie of all time. The first time I saw it, I watched it 3 times back to back. The Blu-Ray release, while not stunning, is definitely worth buying. A few notes, however:

The video quality really is about on par with the DVD release. I’m willing to bet that this was due to the equipment that this was originally filmed with. This is an independent movie filmed on a relatively small budget, so the quality is about as good as it’s likely to get.

But, the commentary is fantastic and well worth the price. And the price, for a Blu Ray disc, is definitely right. Good luck finding another movie, let alone a good one, on Blu Ray, for about .

Two talented son-and-dance men (Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye) team up after the war to become one of the hottest acts in show business.

This is probably my favorite Christmas movie. Today I just wanted to write about some of my favorite parts and some things my family and I spoke about during this viewing.

While there are four big stars in this film, for me the real standout is Doris-the blonde in the beginning. She may not have gone to Smith but she gets two great lines. “Mutual, I’m sure” in response to Bing’s how are you and “Well, I like that without so much as a kiss your foot or have an apple” (paraphrase). I have no idea what that means but it’s funny!

Bing is, hmm is there a nice way to put this?, really old. “The Country Girl” is from the same year but it is in black and white and thus more flattering to the ancient Bing.

As for Danny Kaye, I have to admit we skip his big number, “Choreography.” I try to watch it every couple of years but this year I was outvoted by the rest of the family and quite frankly I didn’t really mind. There’s something about that number that is just really weird.

My favorite number is still the Sisters song although if I paid my money to see the Haynes sister and only got one song, I think I’d be pissed. I have a younger sister so we always like to joke around and sing the song ourselves (although I’m no Rosemary Clooney!)

We also spent time trying to figure out in what year this is supposed to take place. While 1954 is the obvious answer due to the release date of this picture, the General wants a position in combat which would indicate Korea which had been completed by that time. I realize that accuracy was never a big priority for studio films but that bothered us. Is there something we missed?

I also must say that I don’t feel very sorry for the General. Generals are feted and get all sorts of pensions and bonuses and good stuff. I would feel sorry for the 40-year Private Danny Kaye.

And how annoying is the busybody housekeeper? Who can’t even eavesdrop on the phone properly creating a needless rift between Betty and Phil?! She also swore to stop gossiping if her information about Phil and the General was wrong, which it was! Who here thinks she really did stop? I highly doubt it.

But Overall: 5 of course! Highly recommended!
